Larry Curtis was born in 1945 and died in 2016. Larry served his country for 19 months, rising to the rank of E-5 in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Viet Nam. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Larry attended Iowa State University, obtaining a bachelor of science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1968. Larry received Juris Doctor and Masters of Business Administration degrees from the University of Iowa in 1973. He practiced law from 1973, first with the Murray, Curtis & Finn Law Firm and from 1986 with the Pasley and Singer Law Firm. Larry also joined the faculty at Iowa State University in 1973, where he has served as an adjunct professor of accounting, teaching large section lectures on business law. Larry was deeply involved in local government. He served as a city council member for twelve years and was twice elected, serving eight years, as mayor of the City of Ames. Larry served as president of the Iowa League of Cities and for two years on the National League of Cities.
